English Language Exams

English language exams certify that a candidate can study or work in English. Universities set a minimum overall score and often minimum scores per skill, so practice needs to report Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing separately rather than as one number.

  • IELTS

    An English proficiency test reporting Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking on a 0-9 band scale, available in Academic and General Training versions.

  • TOEFL

    The TOEFL iBT, an English proficiency test taken in about two hours in the order Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking. It now reports each section and the overall result on a 1-6 band scale, with a comparable 0-120 score published during the transition.
