Blood drives are very important as they collect blood that is needed for emergency situations which helps save lives every day. Phlebotomy is a career that gives people a choice when it comes to the work environment they would like to have. Phlebotomy Technicians have the option to work in doctor offices, nursing homes, outpatient facilities, and private insurance companies. There is a profession within phlebotomy called: Mobile Phlebotomist. Mobile Phlebotomists works for insurance companies and private businesses. While working for these companies they perform home visits where they do all the tasks and responsibilities of any other phlebotomist. Typically, the results of these tests are not used for diagnostic purposes but rather to give an insurance company an idea of what they should charge a patient for health or life insurance.

The mobile phlebotomist are the higher income earners of the phlebotomy field. They also have the luxury of not being confined to a hospital or doctor’s office all day. Mobile phlebotomist spends most of their day traveling to and from patients’ homes. They are also reimbursed for gas and mileage expenses. In addition, mobile phlebotomists can choose their work schedules to fit in appointments with patients whenever convenient.
