Medical Assistants Careers

Medical Assistants are a unique part of the health care system.  The day to day tasks of these assistants can differ. The responsibilities of Medical Assistants include administrative and clinical tasks. The administrative task includes front end office work; answering phones, scheduling appointments, and paperwork. Clinical tasks back involve the back-end office work; taking vitals, drawing blood, assisting the physician in the examination and administering EKGs. Some Medical Assistants will mostly do front end office work only and perform additional tasks such as medical billing and coding. Patient Care Technician Career

Patient Care Technicians are medical professionals trained to give a wide range of care. PCT’s are the swizz army knife of healthcare employees. Most of the workday PCT’s will find themselves working directly with patients. Training programs for PCT can vary based on state and the type of school. For example, to perform a draw blood in California you must have a license. However, in most states, a license is not required to draw blood. Training programs in most states can last 3-4 months for PCT.
