When working as a Surgical Technician, the majority of your day will consist of you being in a surgical room. Before entering the room you must "Scrub In" along with everyone else. Scrubbing in is the serious washing your hands in forearms and wear the surgical gown just like they do in the movies!

The Surgical Technician hands off the equipment that the Surgeon will need for the procedure that is being performed. This requires knowledge on the different types of procedures and the equipment used for each one. Becoming a Surgical Technician can provide you with valuable experience with with highly trained healthcare professionals.

Surgical Technicians have the incredible opportunity of building a rewarding professional relationship with surgeons. In some cases Surgeons will enter a hospital with there own team. This can give you the chance to travel around the state or even country with a Surgeon and help save lives.

Surgical Technicians have options for furthering their career. Surgical Technicians can take a a Sterile Processing program to further their skills and make themselves a more marketable to potential employers.

Surgicals Technicians can earn enough money to have a sustainable income. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average income of Surgical Technicians in New Jersey earn about $53,000 annually. In New Jersey the bottom 10% of Surgical Technicians earn around $40,000 a year while the top 10% earn over $70,000.
